Alerts are a powerful tool to remain informed about current research in your subject fields. Alerts can either be table of contents e-mails or saved search strategy e-mailed to you directly depending on the database. While not all OSU-Tulsa Library databases have this function, the ones that do are listed below. For help in setting up alerts, contact Tom Thorisch at 594-8146 or tom.thorisch@okstate.edu ABI/Inform Global —Provides table of contents e-mail for either full-text only journals or citation/abstract and full-text journals. It also provides alerts on specific search strategies for up to one year. ACM Digital Library —Provides table of contents e-mail for new journals or conference proceedings from the Association of Computing Machinery. Saved “binders” of search results and search strings can be shared with other colleagues. Congressional Quarterly —While this database does not e-mail you your alerts, it does save your history and create favorite documents which is very helpful when following legislation. Emerald Publication-MCB University Press— free table of contents alert service e-mails you the contents page of any chosen journal when the latest issue becomes available online. ISI Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index —providing alerts on citation searches. JAMA & the Archive —Journal of the American Medical Association provides table of contents and early release articles before publication. Kluwer (NOW Springer/Verlag) Journal and Publishers —free table of contents alert service e-mails you the contents page of any chosen journal when the latest issue becomes available online. Secondly you can choose new publication alerts in broad subject areas (caution though—the broad subjects give you some irrelevant results). Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts —E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. Proquest —Databases that are included: ABI/Inform, American Periodicals Series 1740-1900, Ethnic Newswatch, Research Library, Telecom. Alerts can be set up on the search level or journal level. Sage Education Journals -- E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. Sage Psychology Journals -- E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. Science Direct-Elsevier Publishers - free table of contents alert service e-mails you the contents page of any chosen journal when the latest issue becomes available online. Also available are citation alerts, favorite book series and saved searches. Social Services Abstracts -- E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. Sociological Abstracts -- E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. SPIE Journals Online -- A free e-mail alerting service is available for each SPIE Journal and for SPIE Proceedings by technical area. By subscribing to this service, you will receive table of contents alerts as new Journal issues or Proceedings volumes are published - in either plain-text (ASCII) or HTML format. Springer Publications -- free table of contents or keyword alert service e-mails you the contents page of any chosen journal when the latest issue becomes available online. Water Resources Abstracts -- E-mail alerts for saved searches sent to an e-mail that you enter upon saving searches. Wiley Interscience Journals - Content Alerts - Sign up to receive the table of contents of a journal via e-mail as soon as the journal is available online. To activate a Content Alert for a specific journal, you must first login to Wiley InterScience. Then, go to any journals "Available Issues" page and click on the ADD ALERT button. Hot Journals - Build your own list of the Wiley journals that most interest you and call up the table of contents from the most recent issue instantly.
