DIPLOMA APPLICATION AND GRADUATION
In order to graduate in a given semester, you must notify the appropriate offices of your intent to graduate early in the semester as follows.
Beginning in Spring 2008, all diploma applications will be filed online using the Student Information System (SIS). Login to SIS and select the 'Diploma Application' option located under the Student Records menu. Below are some notes about submitting your diploma application online:
- Undergraduates— Only Seniors are allowed to submit a diploma application. Submit a Diploma Application online by logging into SIS before April 1 (for Spring and Summer graduates) or November 1 (for Fall graduates) to have your name printed in the Stillwater Commencement book.
- Graduate Students—Submit a Graduation Clearance Form to the Graduate College first. Once your Graduation Clearance Form has been accepted, you must then submit a Diploma Application online via SIS before April 1 (for Spring and Summer graduates) or November 1 (for Fall graduates). Contact the Graduate College if you are unable to submit your diploma application.
- Changing your Diploma Delivery Option — you may change your diploma delivery option online through the last day of finals week in your final semester.
- Changing your Expected Graduation Term — if you have filed a diploma application for a given semester and need to change your expected graduation date, you have the following options:
- Submit a Diploma Application Revocation form with the Enrollment Services Office (Tulsa) or the Office of the Registrar (Stillwater). Once the original diploma application has been revoked, you will be able to submit a new diploma application online.
- Diploma applications will automatically expire for students who didn't meet all degree requirements approximately six weeks after final exams for a given semester. You may wait until you receive an email indicating that your original diploma application has expired, and then submit a new diploma application online.
Important Notes:
- Since OSU doesn't hold a summer commencement exercise (Spring only in Tulsa; Spring and Fall in Stillwater), students who meet the graduation requirements to graduate at the end of the summer are invited to participate in the Spring Commencement. Summer graduates must file their diploma applications no later than April 1st to guarantee their names will appear in the Stillwater Spring Commencement book.
- Failure to submit a diploma application or graduation clearance form will result in the delay of your graduation clearance, receipt of diploma, and verification of degree earned.
- All Bursar accounts and Financial Aid holds must be cleared prior to receipt of diploma.
- If you applied for graduation in a previous semester and did not graduate, you must reapply for graduation.
