
As the Chief Academic Officer of the university, he has overall responsibility for operations, development, and promotion of all academic programs. He researches and teaches in the areas of leadership, employee performance, team building, and change management. He also consults with companies in the energy, financial services, government, non-profit, telecommunications, and other industries.
Dr. Basu's research has been published in journals like the Journal of Engineering & Technology Management, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of Employee Assistance Research, R&D Innovator, International Journal of Stress Management, etc. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Southern Management Association.
Dr. Basu is a three time recipient of Chandler-Frates & Reitz Award for Outstanding Teaching in the MBA Program (2000,2001, and 2007) and the Greiner Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching (1996). He received his MBA from Duke University and his Ph.D. from Purdue University.
Dr. Basu serves/has served on the boards of Tulsa CARES, Leadership Oklahoma, Oklahoma Aerospace Alliance, Metro Tulsa Urban League, Greenwood Cultural Center, DREAM Institute, and the community advisory board of the Junior League of Tulsa. He is also a member of Leadership Oklahoma, class XVIII.
Dr. Basu's hobbies include traveling (anywhere), reading (between the lines), music (a variety), running (slowly), hiking (high elevations), cooking (without recipes), eating (foie gras), and drinking (wine, martinis, and scotch). In December 2004 he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,350 feet), the highest peak in Africa.
