Kami L. Schwerdtfeger, Ph.D., LMFT is an Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Oklahoma State University. She earned her master's degree in Family Studies and Human Services, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kansas State University and her doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University. Dr. Schwerdtfeger is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Oklahoma and a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). She currently serves the Oklahoma Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (OKAMFT) as a member of the Elections Committee. Dr. Schwerdtfeger’s clinical and research specialization is in the area of posttraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth and resilience. Her current research activities pertain to the effects of trauma on the transition to parenthood within the couple relationship and the impact of traumatic experiences on adolescent school performance and drop out.
