
The undergraduate program in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in communication sciences and disorders. The OSU undergraduate program provides pre-professional background for students interested in pursuing a career in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology. Courses focus on normal communication development, the anatomical and physiological bases of communication, the acoustics of speech, phonetic transcription, and an introduction to audiology and speech-language disorders. Students interested in this major should have a good background in biology and enjoy working with people.

Please note: The undergraduate degree is a pre-professional degree. Most speech-language pathology and audiology positions require the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) which includes successful completion of a master’s degree, a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) and passing a national examination. In some career areas such as college teaching or research, a Ph.D. is required.
