The concern of civil engineers is a person’s environment – its control, alteration and utilization. Civil engineers design and supervise the construction of roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water supply and sewage systems. Major specialties within civil engineering are structural, water resources, environmental, construction, transportation, and geotechnical engineering.
OSU offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. The breadth of a civil engineering education is a good background for many careers in this technological age. Many go into sales of materials and equipment, while others go into allied areas in energy, communications, infrastructure, computer programming and law. Some go on to graduate school in business administration or medicine and many find their training an excellent route to management positions.
