The name of this organization shall be the Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
Purpose shall be the dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is a national Electrical Engineering organization for college students. Members of IEEE are students with academic and career goals. The Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus chapter strives to make our students competitive in their academic endeavors as they proceed towards the corporate world. We promote leadership, social interaction, exchange of ideas, teamwork projects, mentorship, and service to our members as we emphasize the development of intangible skills of every member.
The officers of this organization shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The following officers will be added as the chapter deems necessary a Professional Relations Director, Publicity Director, Events Coordinator, and CEAT Student Council Representative.
The qualifications for officers for this organization shall be:
The chief responsibility of the President is to provde leadership & long-term guidance for the organization. Other duties of the President include: presid and coordinate all general and officer meetings of the Student Branch, organize and coordinate the activity of all officers, call officer meetings, maintain communication with nationals, maintains attendance of officers, attend national/regional events, and assume all other duties not otherwise delegated.
The duties of the Vice President shall be to perform all functions of the absence of by request of the President. The Vice President's duties also include: arrange for general meeting reservations, complete branch aware nominations, prepare and present banquet awards, and assist the events direct with the annual banquet.
The Secretary/Membership director shall maintain an updated roster of Chapter and National Members. The other duties of the Secretary/Membership director include: communicate with IEEE Headquarters (Annual Plan, Annual Report, etc.), organize recruiting in classes at the beginning of each semester, maintain attendance records of members (take attendance at general meetings), and take general and officer meeting minutes.
The duties of the Treasurer shall be to receive all money and pay all debts of the Student Branch and the treasurer shall keep a record of all transactions. The treasurer shall prepare a financial statement to accompany the annual report. Other duties include fund raising, and AFAP request and defense.
The duty of the Professional Relations director is to seek to make IEEE a well-respected organization campus wide. The duties of the Professional Relations director also include: coordinate industry speakers for general meetings each semester, organize field/plant trips per semester, collect resumes from all OSU Tulsa IEEE members and submit to Career Services, and to promote IEEE with an "on campus" live demonstration event.
The duty of the Events Director is to publicize all events and information (Web Page, flyers). The duties of the Publicity Director also include: send E-Mail to OSU Tulsa IEEE Members (regarding events, job openings, scholarships, etc.), regularly update display cases in EN & ES, take pictures at events to put in cases, maintain web page, initializes list server for member contact.
The duty of the Events Director is to organize all social events for the chapter. These may include the fall picnic, social events, sprint picnic, spring banquet, community service projects (including promotion of engineering to grade school students), software sessions, resume sessions, etc..
The duty of the IEEE student liason to academic affairs is to represent IEEE in all communications with the Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus administration.
The elections of this organization shall be held at the next to last general meeting of each spring semester. Vacancies of any office shall be filled at the next business meeting occurring at least one week after the vacancy has been announced. The term of office for all officers shall be one year.
The branch shall select the faculty advisor by majority vote. The advisor shall be an IEEE member teaching electrical or electronics engineering or related arts and sciences and who shall be appointed by the regional Director upon the recommendation of the student members of the Branch. The faculty advisor shall be charged with promoting the welfare of IEEE at Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus particularly in matters relating to student activities.
The President or Vice President may call standing committees of this organization at any time for special events or service projects. The duty of these committees is to provide assistance to the organization for these special events.
A quorum for this organization shall be 1/3 of the voting membership.
Membership in the Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus chapter of IEEE is open to anyone interested regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, or sex. Non-members as well as non-students are ineligible to vote. Membership will be application based. Applications must be turned in by the application deadline to be eligible for membership during that semester. If the application deadline is missed, students may apply the subsequent semester.
A distinguished member of IEEE is an individual who expresses a great interest in the development of themselves and the Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus chapter of IEEE. These members pay their annual dues, acquire 3 points each semester, and submit their resume.
An associate member of IEEE is an individual who shows an interest in the IEEE chapter at Oklahoma State University Tulsa campus, pays their annual dues, acquires 2 points per semester, and submits their resume.
An inactive member is an individual who is interested in electrical engineering. These members acquire at least one point per semester, pay their annual dues, and submit their resumes.
Dues for this organization shal be established each year at the first officer meeting of the fall semester.
A by-law may be passed at any regular general meeting of the organization by a majority vote of those in attendance provided a quorum is present.
Reports to the Committee on Student Activities
This constitution may be amended in any way provided that a 2/3 majority vote of the current voting members present at any general meeting contingent on the approval of the Department of Student Activities Committee on Student Organizations and IEEE.
