OSU-TULSA

International Business

Students who earn a degree in international business enjoy a well-balanced overview of all the business disciplines with a special focus on international issues.

The international coursework, combined with the 15-hour requirement of a foreign language and a minor in business, is an excellent platform for students wishing to leverage their education to pursue a career domestically with an organization that has global ties or to pursue a career abroad.

Furthermore, students can complement their education by participating in one of the
Study Abroad/Travel Study programs to destinations including France, London, Mexico or Toronto.

Typical activities of professionals in international business include:

  • Travel abroad for meetings with customers or distributors
  • Travel abroad for participation in trade shows
  • Hosting of business clients from abroad
  • Extensive oral and written communications with foreign businesses
  • Paperwork related to shipping, export/import documentation, etc.
  • Interaction with entities like the Department of Commerce, international divisions of banks, etc.
  • Research on international markets, political and cultural issues, exchange rate movements, etc.
