TULSA – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa welcomes students back to campus this week with several new additions.

During the summer, OSU-Tulsa embarked on a number of renovation and construction projects, including new student study rooms, an expanded Wellness Center and remodeled Library facilities. Construction also continues on OSU-Tulsa’s Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center.

The student study rooms, which contain a table, chairs and oversized dry erase board, are designed to serve as a designated, private place for student groups to meet and work on group projects. There are two study rooms located in the southwest hallway of Main Hall.

The Library also has a newly remodeled area which includes a new instructional room, a student study room and a centralized location for photocopiers and microfiche research.

The Wellness Center in North Hall is undergoing an expansion that will include a new cardiovascular area that will include treadmills and elliptical machines. The machines will be equipped with personal view screens, so that users can select the television station they want to watch. Student membership to the Wellness Center is free of charge and faculty and staff can join for $20 per semester. Alumni and spouses of faculty and staff can join for $30 per semester.

Near the campus entrance, returning students will see a substantial building taking shape as the most dramatic phase of construction is underway on the Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center. The Helmerich ATRC will provide needed laboratory space and the potential for technology commercialization that will help bring new jobs and industries to the Tulsa region. Construction of the research center is on-schedule and is expected to be completed by November 2007.
