TULSA – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa parking lots have been renamed and banners identifying each lot will be installed this week.

OSU-Tulsa Police Chief Melvin Murdock said letters will replace directional references for the names of the parking lots to improve safety and security for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Currently, OSU-Tulsa’s parking lots are referred to with directional references, North, East, South and West. Parking lots will now be labeled alphabetically, A through E.

“In the past, there has been some confusion about the names of each parking lot,” Murdock said. “The parking lots will now be clearly labeled and the names will be easier to remember.”

In addition, with construction of OSU-Tulsa’s Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center and a new parking lot, university officials reevaluated the parking lot designations and created a naming system that can expand with the campus.

New parking lot banners and campus signage will be installed with the new names. Murdock said students, faculty, staff and visitors will continue to have access to all of the lots.
