TULSA – The official poster artwork for Mayfest 2008 will be unveiled on Thursday, May 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center.

Mayfest, Tulsa’s annual outdoor fine arts and music festival, will take place May 15-18 in downtown Tulsa. The 2008 event marks the 36th year for this Tulsa tradition. Many area residents collect the annual Mayfest poster for the unique perspective the chosen artist provides each year.

Stillwater resident and illustrator Tim Jessell has been selected as this year’s poster artist. Jessell graduated from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor of fine arts degree, graduating cum laude, in commercial design. Jessell’s award-winning illustrations have been used in editorial, advertising, book and institutional categories.

Jessell described the Mayfest digital poster art, titled “The Trumpeter,” as “a celebration of spring, the arts and downtown Tulsa.”

Posters will be available for purchase at the unveiling. Posters will also be available after the unveiling at the Mayfest offices, located at 321 S. Boston Ave., Suite 101. To learn more about Mayfest, visit www.tulsamayfest.org.
