Workshops, Job Fair assist OSU students in tough times

TULSA – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s Cowboy Career Week features workshops, résumé sessions and a job fair Feb. 23-26 to help students explore jobs, internships and network with employers amid a struggling economy.

On Monday, Feb. 23, Career Week will kick off with “Résumé Doctor,” a one-on-one résumé review and critique session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the North Hall Lobby. Career counselors will assist students will content and formatting, as well as teach them how to maximize their strengths for the job they want.

A “Career Success Workshop” will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from noon to 1 p.m. in North Hall 140. OSU alumnus Sean Kouplen, a business leader, award-winning professor and author of the book, “Out of the Blocks,” will discuss how to develop your own personal strategic plan. Career Week will continue with a “First Impressions Workshop” on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in North Hall 140. Presented by Jana Christian, with the Etiquette School of Oklahoma, students will learn the key elements and importance of making a positive first impression and how to build rapport. Students can put their newly acquired skills and tools to use at the OSU-Tulsa Career Fair on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Main Hall Commons. Individuals seeking full-time jobs and internships should come prepared to meet potential employers.
