TULSA – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa will host the Tulsa Research Symposium March 4 to highlight research funding opportunities through Oklahoma’s Economic Development Generating Excellence (EDGE) program.

The Symposium will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in OSU-Tulsa’s Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center.

Dr. Paul Risser, executive director of the EDGE Fund Policy Board and former chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, will serve as the keynote speaker. He will discuss the EDGE program and the funding available for area researchers.

“We’re very pleased to host this event that will encourage collaboration between the researchers in our state’s colleges and universities, as well as Oklahoma’s corporate and education entities,” said OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl. “These are the partnerships that can create new educational opportunities, foster research for Oklahoma’s industries and promote economic growth within our communities.”

The event is presented by i2E in cooperation with the Innovation Institute, StepUp Tulsa, OSU-Tulsa, The University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, Tulsa Community College and the University of Tulsa.

The EDGE program was developed in late 2003 to make investments in Oklahoma’s knowledge infrastructure in order to bolster the State’s long-term economic growth. Oklahoma created the EDGE Fund as a public source dedicated to funding the development and commercialization of applied research.
