Thursday, April 09, 2009OSU-Tulsa to Celebrate Graduate Studies Week April 13-16FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASETULSA – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa will host Graduate Studies Week April 13-16, including a graduate studies fair and workshops to prepare students for the graduate admission process.
Graduate Studies Week will kick off with an Open House on Monday, April 13 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Graduate Student Services Center’s new location in the Main Hall Commons. The Center provides a centrally-located support office to help current and prospective graduate students reach their academic and professional goals.
The Graduate Studies Fair will take place Tuesday, April 14 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Main Hall Commons. The Fair will showcase OSU master’s and doctoral programs to current college students or professionals who are ready to advance their career. Informational sessions will give a broad perspective on applying to graduate school, entrance exams, education funding and specific admission and degree requirements.
On Wednesday, April 15, students can learn basic quantitative, analytical writing and verbal skills to prepare for graduate school entrance exams. The GRE/GMAT Quantitative Skills Workshop will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in North Hall 108. The GRE/GMAT Analytical Writing and Verbal Skills Workshop is planned for 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in North Hall 108.
Finally, Graduate Studies Week events will conclude on Thursday, April 16 with workshops focused on preparing goal statements and the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). Participants will learn how to shine during the admissions process with an outstanding goals statement during a workshop in North Hall 108 from noon to 1 p.m. The MAT Skills workshop will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in North Hall 108.
Participants can enter to win a free Kaplan GRE or GMAT preparation course for each Graduate Studies Week event attended. The winner of the course, which is valued at up to $1,449, will be announced on Friday, April 17.
In addition, Kaplan will provide a free GRE and GMAT practice test for OSU students at the Tulsa Kaplan Center, 2865 East Skelly Drive, Suite 228, on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. Seats are limited and pre-registration is recommended.
