Friday, April 24, 2009OSU-Tulsa Staff Members Recognized for Outstanding ServiceFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASETULSA – Two Oklahoma State University-Tulsa staff members were recognized today by President Gary Trennepohl for their outstanding service during the 2008-09 academic year.
Earl Gorden, coordinator for classroom operations for OSU-Tulsa’s Learning Technology Services, was awarded the Roberta Joan Cothran Hess Staff Award.
Funded in honor of Roberta Joan Cothran Hess by Dr. James Hess, the annual award is given to an OSU-Tulsa staff member who demonstrates a commitment to student services and displays an ability to excel in their work.
Gorden has worked for OSU-Tulsa for more than 12 years. His responsibilities include distance leaning services, audio and video services, systems development, multimedia production and development.
The Max Minor Service Award was given to Paul O’Neill, interim assistant director of OSU-Tulsa’s Physical Plant. The annual award is named in memory of OSU-Tulsa employee Max Minor and is awarded to staff members who demonstrate a commitment to OSU-Tulsa.
O’Neill supervises a team of seven engineers who maintain the heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical components on campus. He has been employed at OSU-Tulsa since 1998.
Other considerations for both service awards include outstanding leadership skills, effective communication skills and community involvement. Winners receive an award plaque and a cash gift.
