Tulsa’s Historic Golden Driller Decked Out for OSU-Tulsa Graduation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TULSA - Tulsa’s historic Golden Driller is wearing a bright, orange necktie in celebration of OSU-Tulsa’s Graduation Ceremony at the Pavilion at Expo Square on Monday, May 11.

Oklahoma Speaker of the House and OSU-Tulsa alumnus Chris Benge will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony which begins at 7 p.m.

Tulsa Golden Driller“We’re very proud of the achievements and success of our 2009 OSU graduates and the Golden Driller’s orange tie is a fun way to honor them,” said OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl. “We’ll consider the Golden Driller an honorary OSU graduate on Monday night.”

The Golden Driller has long been a famous figure for Tulsa. Originally built in 1953, the statue was permanently installed in front of the Expo Center for the 1966 International Petroleum Exposition. The statue stands 76 feet tall and weighs 43,500 pounds.

The Pavilion at Expo Square is located in mid-town Tulsa at 4145 E. 21st Street. The Golden Driller will wear the OSU tie until Tuesday, May 12. For more information about OSU-Tulsa and the Graduation Ceremony, visit www.osu-tulsa.okstate.edu.
