Six OSU-Tulsa Faculty Promoted in Rank
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TULSA - The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents recently approved promotions in academic rank for OSU-Tulsa faculty members Todd Arnold, Xiang Fang, Bin Liang, Jason Maloy, Khaled A. Sallam and Craig Wallace.

OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl said each faculty member was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor with tenure in recognition of their teaching and scholastic contributions to their disciplines.

“We are extremely proud to recognize the accomplishments of these outstanding educators and scholars,” Trennepohl said. “We are fortunate to have high-quality faculty on the Tulsa campus who are passionate about educating students and conducting innovative research. Their achievements are indicative of the exceptional resident faculty at OSU-Tulsa.”

Arnold, who earned his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Missouri-Columbia, teaches courses in managerial strategies in marketing. He was awarded the Poole Research Excellence Award in 2008. He is the author or co-author of 29 publications and has given numerous presentations at academic conferences.

Fang’s research interests include consumer and market behavior, including branding, advertising and cross-cultural research, which have resulted in numerous publications and academic conference presentations. In 2007, he was awarded the Richard W. Poole Research Excellence Award. He earned his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Kansas.

Liang is the author of the 2008 book, “The Changing Chinese Legal System, 1978-Present: Centralization of Power and Rationalization of the Legal System.” His new book, co-authored with Hong Lu and Terance Miethe, “China’s Drug Practices and Policies: Regulating Controlled Substances in a Global Context” will be coming out soon. His other research interests include globalization and its impact on the Chinese legal system, crime and deviance in China, and the drug court in Tulsa County. He earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University.

Maloy earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Government at Harvard University. He is the author of the 2008 book, “The Colonial American Origins of Modern Democratic Thought.” His research interests focus on democratic theory and American political thought.

Sallam, who earned his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, conducts research in the areas of fluid dynamics, laser diagnostics, sprays, microfluidics, and nanofibers. He has co-authored more than 80 journal articles and conference proceedings and was selected as a Faculty Fellow for the 2008 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He is the recipient of the 2007 Haliburton Excellent Young Teacher Award and the 2006 W.R. Marshall Award from the Institute for Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems, North and South America.

Wallace’s primary area of research focuses on the integrations of motivation and work contexts (e.g., leadership, work climates) to explain work performance. His research has resulted in over 35 publications and garnered him several awards including the S. Wallace Award, Poole Research Excellence Award and the American Society for Training and Development Research Award. In May, he was also named the 2009 recipient of the Greiner Graduate Teaching Award. He earned his Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
