OSU-Tulsa Plants New Trees on Campus
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TULSA – Returning Oklahoma State University-Tulsa students will notice a lot more green around campus this week.

The first batch of 55 new trees is currently being planted around campus. OSU-Tulsa officials say that, weather permitting, approximately 300 additional trees will be planted by the end of the first week of September.

The new trees will restore the campus beauty that was lost after more than 100 trees were heavily damaged following a December 2007 ice storm.

Tree species include Allee Lacebark Elm, Shumard Oak, Overcup Oak, Loblolly Pine, Nellie Stevens Holly, Black Gum and Red Sunset Maple. The trees are being planted in groupings to simulate those found in nature.

The landscape plan, created by Alaback Design, adds significantly more evergreen trees for year-round visual impact and a variety of different trees to provide colorful landscapes during the spring and fall. The project is being funded through the UCT Authority.
