Events Set to Assist OSU-Tulsa Students with Career Prep and Job Hunt
TULSA (Jan. 20, 2010) – OSU-Tulsa has several events and workshops planned for students who will soon make the transition from a classroom to a career. OSU-Tulsa’s Career Services has scheduled workshops, seminars and a Career Fair to assist students at any stage of their college career or job search. All Career Services events are free and open to all OSU students and recent alumni Participants can have their résumé critiqued during “The Résumé Doctor” on Feb. 8, Feb. 16, Feb. 18 or Feb. 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in North Hall 130. The one-on-one consultations are by walk-in appointment only. Making the most of a career fair is the topic of a one-hour career fair preparation workshop scheduled for Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. in North Hall 140. Identical workshops are scheduled for Feb. 22 and Feb. 25. Participants can also view a webinar of this workshop via the Internet on March 3 at noon. OSU students and alumni will also have two opportunities to “BOB for Jobs” by riding BOB, OSU’s Big Orange Bus, free of charge to attend Career Fairs in Stillwater. OSU’s Business Career Fair is set for Feb. 11 at Gallagher-Iba Arena and the Journalism and Broadcasting Communications Networking Expo will take place Feb. 25 in the Student Union Ballroom. The networking seminar “You’ve Got to Know Someone” is scheduled for Feb. 23 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in North Hall 150. Tom Robins, president of Unlock Networking, will discuss the principles of authentic networking and how to network while looking for a job. Space is limited and reservations are required. OSU-Tulsa career consultants will host mock interview sessions on March 10 and 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in North Hall 130. Participants can practice their interviewing skills, learn about successful techniques and the most common employer questions asked during a job interview.
