“Another Hot Oklahoma Night: A Rock & Roll Exhibit” now open at OSU-Tulsa

TULSA (March 11, 2011) – An exhibit featuring rock ‘n’ roll artists, personalities and venues that have called Oklahoma home is now open at OSU-Tulsa.

A dedication ceremony today officially opened the exhibit, “Another Hot Oklahoma Night: A Rock & Roll Exhibit,” in the Main Hall Commons. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The award-winning exhibit, which was previously featured at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, traces the history of rock ‘n’ roll in Oklahoma. Artists included range from Bob Wills, Leon Russell and Woody Guthrie, to the Flaming Lips, Hanson and The All-American Rejects.

OSU-Tulsa will host the exhibit while plans are considered for a music and pop culture museum in downtown Tulsa.

Today at the ceremony, Dr. Bob Blackburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society, announced that the family of Bob Wills and the Bob Wills Heritage Foundation is donating his collection to the new museum. The collection consists of more than 350 photographs, hundreds of letters, documents and promotional pieces and many pieces of memorabilia including fiddles, clothing, awards and other personal items.
