CFR Enrolling for Next Active Parenting Now Class
Oklahoma State University’s Center for Family Resilience and the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service are offering a new session of Padres Activos de Hoy (Active Parenting Now) for Latino parents with children 5-12 years old beginning Wednesday, April 18.
The three-week program runs Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m through May 2 in North Hall 155 at OSU-Tulsa.
“The acclaimed parenting program is taught totally in Spanish using materials culturally adapted for Latino families,” said Dr. Ron Cox, director of the Center for Family Resilience. “The course teaches parents techniques to raise a child using encouragement and how to build a strong parent-child relationship.”
Topics covered during the course include styles of parenting, building courage and self-esteem, responsibility and discipline, winning cooperation from your child and saying no to drugs.
Registration is free. Participants can buy the parent workbook for $15 or rent it for $5. Seating is limited so early registration is encouraged.
To register, call 918-594-8336, e-mail email@example.com or visit the Center for Family Resilience website.
