Dr. Joel Harper and Dr. Karina Shreffler have been selected as grand marshals for OSU-Tulsa’s 2012 Graduation Ceremony on May 7. The honored faculty members will lead the faculty and student procession during the ceremony.
Harper is an associate professor of finance in the Spears School of Business and serves as the Finance Ph.D. program coordinator. Prior to joining OSU, he was on faculty at Florida Atlantic University and Grand Canyon University. His research interests include pension fund issues, privatization in former communist countries and foreign exchange exposure of businesses. He has served on the boards of the Southern Finance Association and Financial Analysts Society of South Florida where he also served as president.
Shreffler, assistant professor of human development and family science, completed her bachelor’s degree in sociology at Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree and doctorate in sociology and demography at Pennsylvania State University. Shreffler’s research focuses on understanding factors that impact fertility on a macro scale, examining the role of contextual factors in both childbearing decisions and outcomes, and examining reproductive issues (such as infertility and inequality) and their consequences.
OSU-Tulsa’s graduation ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in The Pavilion at Expo Square. Tulsa Community College President Thomas McKeon will serve as the keynote speaker.
