Students building bridges during engineering camp at OSU-Tulsa
Budding engineers will be hoping their Popsicle stick bridges will hold up when they visit Oklahoma State University-Tulsa on Friday for the Tulsa Alliance for Engineering’s annual summer camp.
During the camp, eighth- and ninth-grade students from across the Tulsa area will use their engineering knowledge to construct Popsicle bridges. The students will then compete to see which bridge will hold the most weight before collapsing.
The camp caps a week of activities at the six educational intuitions that make up the alliance – Tulsa Technology Center, Tulsa Community College, OSU-Tulsa, University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, Oral Roberts University and University of Tulsa.
While at OSU-Tulsa, students will tour the Helmerich Research and learn about the university’s engineering programs. Wallace Engineering is partnering with OSU-Tulsa for the event and will take the students on a tour of some recently completed construction projects in the Brady Arts District, including Guthrie Green and the Hardesty Arts Center.
