Wilma Mankiller Interview Available on Write TV

Mankiller“Writing Out Loud” host Teresa Miller says Wilma Mankiller was as open and caring as she had ever been for what was possibly her final interview four months ago.

Mankiller, former chief of the Cherokee Nation, author and activist, died Tuesday at the age of 64 after suffering from cancer and other health problems.

She was interviewed by Miller in December for the program “Writing Out Loud,” which features in-depth interviews with authors and other artists. Miller is also the executive director of The Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at OSU-Tulsa.

The interview took place before it was announced that Mankiller had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Miller says she later heard from Mankiller that their interview would probably be her last.

The “Writing Out Loud” interview can be seen in its entirety on the Web site for Write TV.
