Faculty and Staff “Branding Success” Event Set for Friday
OSU-Tulsa faculty and staff are invited to join President Howard Barnett for a come-and-go lunch and brief presentation about “Branding Success,” OSU’s historic $1 billion initiative to raise record private funds for scholarships, research and academic pursuits. The event is scheduled for Friday, May 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Atrium of the Helmerich Research Center.
Pistol Pete will be at the event and participants will have the chance to win door prizes including t-shirts, duffle bags, sunglasses and more. In addition, the Roberta Joan Cothran Hess Staff Award and the Max Minor Service Award will be presented to two OSU-Tulsa staff members.

Merten Named 2010 President’s Outstanding Faculty Member
Dr. Michael Merten has been named this year’s recipient of the President’s Outstanding Faculty Award, the highest honor awarded to faculty at OSU-Tulsa.
Merten, assistant professor of human development and family science, has taught at OSU-Tulsa since 2005. President Howard Barnett announced Merten as the award recipient during graduation Monday night.
“Dr. Merten brings energy, enthusiasm and dedication to promoting student success in the classroom,” Barnett said. “He is an exceptional recipient of this award because of his outstanding teaching, service to students and research-based outreach in the Tulsa community and throughout the state.”
The President’s Outstanding Faculty Award is presented each year at OSU-Tulsa for outstanding contributions in service to students, classroom performance and service to the campus community. Recipients receive $1,500 which is provided through private donations. The monetary reward is intended to encourage exceptional teaching.
