Staff Members Recognized for Contributions to OSU-Tulsa

Two OSU-Tulsa staff members were recently recognized for their outstanding service during the 2009-10 academic year.

Minor AwardPresident Howard Barnett presented the Max Minor Service Award to Christina Barnaby, business affairs supervisor. The annual award is named in memory of long-time OSU employee Max Minor and is awarded to staff members who demonstrate a commitment to OSU-Tulsa.

Cothran AwardSally O’Mealey, academic counselor for the College of Human Sciences, was awarded the Roberta Joan Cothran Hess Staff Award. Dr. James Hess presented the award, which is funded in memory of his mother, Roberta Joan Cothran Hess. It’s given annually to a staff member who demonstrates a commitment to student services and displays an ability to excel in their work.

OSU-Tulsa Announces Scholarship for New Education Graduate Students

ScholarshipOSU-Tulsa is launching a new tuition waiver scholarship designed to help Tulsa-area teachers and education personnel enhance their teaching techniques or advance their careers to administrative or leadership roles.

The OSU-Tulsa Graduate Education Scholarship is designed for those working in public schools, technology centers, early learning centers, higher education and other education-related settings.

OSU-Tulsa will offer $750 scholarships per semester to new, fully admitted students in OSU master’s and doctoral education programs. Students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of three semesters starting with the fall 2010, spring 2011 or summer 2011 semesters, for a total scholarship of $2,250. Pistol Pete and the Cowboy Stampede Heading to Tulsa

The Tulsa Chapter of the OSU Alumni Association will host the Cowboy Stampede on Saturday, June 5 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the K-Bar Ranch in Mounds (just south of Bixby). Outdoor activities include a barbeque supper, Jupiter Jumps, hay and pony rides, door prizes, mementos and a free gift for Alumni Association registered Legacies. Pistol Pete, Bullet and OSU President Burns Hargis will also be on hand. A $250 OSU scholarship will be given away to one high school junior, senior or 2010 graduate in attendance.
