OSU Energy Education
You can work to decrease energy use and still show holiday spirit. Fiber optic decorations are the ultimate in energy efficiency. In most cases, they use a single light bulb located in the base of the unit to light the entire decoration. Also, wait until dark to turn on holiday lights and then turn them off before you go to bed. Aim for six hours or less of daily use. Do you have trouble remembering to turn your lights on and off? Put them on a timer.
