Student Disability Services
Student Disability Services (SDS) at OSU-Tulsa provides support services to students with disabilities and is committed to providing equal access to programs, services and activities.
Eligibility For Services
After completion of admission, students should contact Student Disability Services to initiate their request for services. Provision of services includes an intake process during which documentation of the disability is gathered and appropriate strategies and resources are identified. Students must provide documentation of their disability prior to receiving services. |

Students should submit documentation from a qualified professional stating the nature and severity of the disability, the diagnostic procedures used, and recommendations for assistance. Students with Learning Disabilities or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder must submit documentation of an adult psycho educational evaluation performed by an appropriately qualified professional. Information obtained is confidential and is used solely for the purpose of identifying appropriate support services.
Reasonable Accommodation
OSU-Tulsa will reasonably accommodate students with a disability unless such accommodation poses an undue hardship, results in a fundamental alteration in the nature of the service, program or activity or causes undue financial or administrative burdens. |

Support Services
Assistance is tailored to the needs of the individual student. Reasonable accommodation may include but is not limited to, the following services:
- Instructor Notification - To aid students in securing the appropriate services, SDS provides instructors with written verification of a student's disability status and recommendations for academic accommodations.
- Specialized Testing - Alternative testing formats, as well as auxiliary aids such as readers, scribes, or assistive technology, are available. Tests are to be schedules in advance with SDS office.
- Classroom Accommodations - Special seating arrangements are provided.
- Mobility Training - Mobility training is available to familiarize students with the OSU-Tulsa campus.
- Interpreter Services - Interpreter services are coordinated through the SDS office. Students are strongly urged to enroll early to ensure availability of interpreters.
- Assistive Technology - Available compensatory technology includes tape recorders, assistive listening devices, a Flexcam video camera, Jaws, Open Book, Visu-Tech, Zoomtext and WYNN. Microcassette tape recorders are available for checkout. A TDD is available for student use in the SDS office.
- Reader Service - Student Disability Services assists students in obtaining required texts and equipment through Recordings for the Blind and Syslexic and Oklahoma Library for the Blind. Limited in-house recording is provided for students if these traditional resources cannot meet their needs. Reader services are provided as required for exams.
- Additional Specific Services - Available as identified on an individual basis.
Students are responsible for requesting services each semester or at the time a need is identified. Services are free of charge to students.
