Jami Fullerton earned her masters and doctorate from the University of North Texas and received her BA in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to entering academe, she worked in the advertising industry in Dallas. Dr. Fullerton is on the faculty of the School of Journalism and Broadcasting at Oklahoma State University, where she teaches undergraduate advertising and graduate level mass communication courses, including Mass Communication Theory and Research Methods. In 2008, she became the first appointment to the Peggy Layman Welch Chair in Journalism at OSU.

Dr. Fullerton's research interests include the portrayal of gender in advertising and cross-cultural communication. She has published studies in academic journals on international and ethnic advertising and advertising education. The College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University named her outstanding researcher in 2001.

Dr. Fullerton, who is the recipient of one State Department grant and a participant in two others, often spends her summers abroad teaching conducting research on cross-cultural communication and media globalization. Currently she serves as the chair of the American Advertising Federation’s Academic Committee and is on the AAF Board of Directors.

A native Oklahoman, Dr. Fullerton lives in Tulsa with her husband Sam Fullerton and daughter Helen.
