Use of Calculators for the Residual ACT
ACT permits examinees to use calculators on the Mathematics Test. However, all problems on the test can be solved without using calculators. Most four-function, scientific, and graphing calculators may be used.
The following types of calculators and devices are prohibited:
- Calculators with built-in computer algebra systems:
- Casio: Algebra fx 2.0, ClassPad 300, and all model numbers that begin with CFX-9970G
- Texas Instruments: All models that begin with TI-89 or TI-92
- Hewlett-Packard: hp 48GII and all model numbers that begin with hp 40G or hp 49G
- Calculators with a typewriter keypad (keys in QWERTY format)
- Calculators with built into cellular phone or other electronic communication devices
- Electronic writing pads or pen-input devices
- Handheld or laptop computers
- Pocket organizers
