Compass Placement Test

Fees:
There is no fee for prospective OSU students. A $15 fee will apply to each Compass test administered to those who are not prospective OSU students.

Registration:
Compass exams are offered Monday through Friday. Appointments are preferred to insure we have a computer available for you. Please call the Learning Services Center to make your appointment. Walk-ins are welcome, but a space cannot be guaranteed without an appointment.

Remote Testing:
Remote testing is available for students who need to take the Compass exam for anotehr college or university. If your institution is set up for remote testing, you will need to pre-register and bring your registration ticket with you to the exam.

Required Identification:
You must present an acceptable photo ID before you will be permitted to test. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver's license, school I.D, military I.D., health department I.D., or current passport.

Description:
Individual Compass tests measure skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help you and your academic advisor make course placement decisions.

Scoring Information:
A report of your test score will be provided to you following completion of the exam. OSU students should retain a copy and take it with them to New Student Orientation.

Retest Policy:
OSU students may take the test no more than twice. Non-OSU students should check with their institution regarding this policy.

Testing for Students with Disabilities:

  • OSU-Tulsa Testing Services will provide extended time to examinees with a documented disability. The amount of extended time will depend on each individual case. The examinee must first register with Student Disability Services (918-594-8354) and present documentation of the disability. Once the amount of extended time has been determined, Student Disability Services will contact both the examinee and Testing Services. The examinee should then contact Testing Services to schedule a date to take the exam.
