Wellness Center Programs Calendar

The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center will be running multiple activities and programs during the Summer 2016 semester. Please stop by the Wellness Center and talk to a Wellness Staff member to learn more about what the Wellness Center is offering during the summer semester. Some highlighted events are offered below:

Wellness Booth at Welcome Week

NH Lobby 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center staff will have a table set up at the Welcome Week event. Stop by the booth and see what the Wellness Center has to offer. Students and employees will get information about services, intramural sports, training, and the Fall 2016 Fitness Class schedule. Students will also receive a free wellness welcome gift

Student Plank Competition

Wellness Center              
How’s your plank hold? This friendly competition is for just students. All participants will stop by the Wellness Center to have a Wellness Staff member record their plank hold attempt. The top 3 males and females with the longest plank times will receive a prize! Participants can stop by the Wellness Center between 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on August 29, 30, or 31

Destination Fit                 

Wellness Center              
Students and employees who like to travel will love this challenge. Groups of 5 people will work together the month of September to reach a hypothetical destination chosen by the group. There are 10 locations to choose from so groups can chose a destination that is suitable to the participants. All groups must register for this event. Wag Wednesday

NH/MH Lobbies 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Did you know that OSU-Tulsa has its own Pet Therapy Program? Pete’s Pet Posse-Tulsa (P3T) handler/canine teams will be present in the North and Main hall lobby areas. All dogs have complete extensive training, including a Canine Good Citizen certificate and registration with Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Students and employees are encouraged to stop by and interact with the canines. Come find out what everyone is barking about!

Office Yoga

NH 156 12:00 – 12:45 p.m.
All employees and students are encouraged to participate in relaxing and educational event. A certified yoga instructor will take participants through different yoga poses that can be used in any office or work setting. Implementing small stretch breaks throughout the day has shown to lower stress levels as well as increase focus. Participants can attend 1 or more days. OSU in Tulsa Health Fair

MH Commons 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
The Fall 2016 OSU in Tulsa Health Fair is THE biggest health event of the semester. Students and employees have the opportunity to receive multiple health screenings and services such as cholesterol/glucose checks, blood pressure screening, DUI checkpoint simulator, and more! Free snacks and beverages will be provided. Participants can also enter their names for a chance to win one of many door prizes. Events like this are what make OSU America’s Healthiest Campus®

Bustin’ Out Burpees

Wellness Center              
The ‘burpee’ is the ultimate full-body exercise. Students will be challenged to complete as many burpees as possible in 5 minutes. Wellness Staff members will be present to count the official numbers of burpees completed from each person. The male and female with the most burpees completed will win a prize. To register for this event please e-mail the Wellness Staff at Tulsa.wellness@okstate.edu.

Flu shots

NH265 1:30 – 5:00 p.m.
All currently enrolled students and employees can receive their free flu vaccination at the OSU-Tulsa Medical Clinic. Student status will be verified by their CWID. Employees covered by BCBS insurance will be required to bring their insurance card.

Social Sweat Club

Wellness Center    
This challenge combines fitness and comradery. Groups of 4 people will work together to complete 3 different workouts. The workouts are functional and meant to work all major muscle groups. Teams will have 1 week to complete all 3 workouts. This event is open to students and employees. To register your team please e-mail a Wellness Staff member at Tulsa.wellness@okstate.edu

PokeyPeteGo

Why catch a Pokemon when you can get a PokeyPete instead?! Every day during the month of November PokeyPetes will be hiding somewhere on campus waiting to be found by an OSU employee. Some PokeyPetes are easy to locate, but others won’t be so simple find. Each PokeyPete is different so don’t miss any days. Employees will try and find all 22 unique PokeyPetes!

Fittest on Campus (FOC)

Wellness Center 
FOC is the biggest Wellness Center challenge of the semester! Participants will have 1 hour to complete 9 physical fitness challenges. Events are categorized by most reps completed, quickest time, and furthest distance. The top 3 male/female students will receive medals. The top male and female champions will compete against the OSU-CHS champions in a competition to see which campus is the most fit in Tulsa! The winning campus will receive the official Fittest in Tulsa (FIT) trophy to display at the Wellness Center. All participants must register for this event. Please e-mail Tulsa.wellness@okstate.edu to register for FOC.

P3T Pre-Test De-Stress

NH/MH Lobbies
Handler/Canine teams from P3T will be present during finals week to help students and employees deal with the high levels of stress experienced during finals week. Therapy dogs can help alleviate or lessen symptoms of stress, anxiety, or depression. After interacting with a P3T canine, those pesky exams won’t seem so ‘rough’.
