The OSU School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration's Wayne Hirst Center for Beverage Education is offering two classes at OSU-Tulsa taught by Tulsa-area industry professionals and aimed at beverage enthusiasts. These beer and wine appreciation courses are open to OSU-Tulsa students, OSU-Stillwater students and members of the public who would like to expand their knowledge of malted beverages and wines.

For students in particular, these courses offer the perfect opportunity to pick up an additional credit hour in just two weekends.

Beer and Wine Appreciation Courses - Enroll Now

Intro to Malted Beverages: An Overview of Beer

Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017
8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
B.S. Roberts Room (North Hall 151)

Spend a weekend learning an overview of the history of beer, brewing process, styles, beer tasting, beer and food pairing and the industry behind the business of beer at this class offered by the OSU School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at OSU-Tulsa. The course will be offered to OSU students for one credit hour and is open to the public as a noncredit option.

Wes Alexander, director of sales for Tulsa’s Marshall Brewing Co., will lead this course.

  • Enrolled OSU students earn one hour of OSU credit.
  • Must be age 21 and older.

Overview of Beverages in the Hospitality Industry

Spend two Saturdays learning how to pair wines with food and gain an appreciation for evaluating wines at this class offered by the OSU School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at OSU-Tulsa. The course will be offered to OSU students for one credit hour and is open to the public as a noncredit option.

Professional Certified Sommelier T.C. LeRoy, operating partner and general manager at Prhyme: Downtown Steakhouse, will lead this one-credit hour course that includes an introduction to styles and flavors of wine and an overview of the history of wine-growing regions.
