Parenting styles affect on children's development focus of OSU-CHS seminar

Dr. Amanda Morris, OSU-Tulsa associate professor of human development and family science, will discuss how parenting can affect children’s social and biological development at OSU Center for Health Sciences’ Third Friday Seminar tomorrow at noon in D-107.

Morris will present “The Role of Context in Children’s Biological and Social Adjustment: Is Supportive Parenting the Key?” which examines the role parenting plays on children’s physical and mental health. She will explore the specific links between parenting styles and the development of children’s emotion regulation and social adjustment.

A research associate with the OSU Center for Family Resilience, Morris leads a study on family and youth development. The focus of her research is to examine predictors and outcomes of emotion regulation.

The seminar, sponsored by the OSU Center for Family Resilience, OSU-Tulsa and OSU-CHS, is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be provided.
