Wellness Center events set for fall semester

The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center has planned a number of events for the fall semester, including a plank competition, a fitness program, yoga and much more.

The Student Plank Competition will be on Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wellness Center. Students are encouraged to stop by and attempt a record plank. The top three men and top three women will win a prize.

During the month of September, students and employees are invited to join “Destination Fit,” a group fitness program. To register, email the Wellness Center. Pete’s Pet Posse therapy dogs will participate in “Wag Wednesdays” this semester. The dogs will be in the North Hall Lobby and Main Hall Commons from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2. Students and employees are encouraged to stop by and interact with the canines.

Other fall semester events include a burpee challenge, a ‘PokeyPeteGo’ game, a flu shot clinic and the annual OSU in Tulsa Health Fair. To view a schedule of events, visit the Wellness Center website.

The wellness center offers numerous fitness classes, including Zumba and yoga. Yoga mats and blocks, resistance bands, aerobic step equipment, rubber-coated dumbbells and more are available for use. Classes take place in the Fitness Studio in North Hall 117. To view the class schedule, visit the Fitness Studio website.

In partnership with Tulsa Community College, intramural sports also are a part of the wellness center’s activities and include football, basketball and soccer. To register for a league, visit the Intramural Sports website.

Students, faculty and staff can start or renew a free membership in OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center for the fall semester. The wellness center offers a variety of activities and events geared toward helping members get fit and stay healthy.
