Tips for tackling stress during Finals Week
The flurry of exams and projects that must be completed during Finals Week can be challenging. But experts say that making a study plan and staying positive are good ways to reduce stress. OSU-Tulsa offers a number of services aimed at helping students complete the semester successfully:
- Recharge and take breaks to refresh your mind and body. Treat yourself to free coffee or tea Monday through Thursday in the Main Hall Commons or North Hall Lobby from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
- Visit with Pete’s Pet Posse Tulsa therapy dog, Fern, at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday; P3T dog, Blue, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and P3T dog, Diesel, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. All dogs will be available in the North Hall Lobby. Petting a dog can help alleviate stress and encourage relaxation.
- Exercise, eat healthy food and get enough sleep to prepare your brain for exams. OSU-Tulsa’s Wellness Center offers fitness classes, exercise equipment and health expertise to help enrolled students be healthy and successful.
- Schedule a study room, equipped with computers and a printer, at the OSU-Tulsa Library to ensure you have a quiet place for your work. To reserve a study room, call 918-594-8130. The library also offers free earplugs and the use of puzzles, coloring books with crayons or markers, portable dry-erase boards, Etch-a-Sketch toys, dry-erase columns and instant reference, research and citation assistance during library hours. The library also will be serving free popcorn beginning at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
