Wes Alexander, director of sales for Tulsa’s Marshall Brewing Co., will instruct a class on beer appreciation and brewing in January at OSU-Tulsa.
“Introduction to Malted Beverages: An Overview of Beer” will be offered on two consecutive Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28. The course will explore beer tasting, trends and challenges in the beer industry as well as its history.
This is the first time the class is being offered at OSU-Tulsa and offers current students an opportunity to earn one credit.
The course is open to enthusiasts, industry professionals, students and scholars. Students must be 21 years of age or older to enroll in the course.
A native Tulsan, Alexander is also teaching the course at OSU-Stillwater as an approved elective within the Wayne Hirst Center for Beverage Education of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration.
In addition, OSU-Tulsa will again offer the "Overview of Beverages in the Hospitality Industry" course on wine appreciation and selection taught by T.C. Leroy, operating partner and general manager at Prhyme: Downtown Steakhouse.
Classes are scheduled for two consecutives Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on March 25 and April 1.
The wine course is an introduction to the styles and flavors of major wine varietals as well as evaluating wines, matching wine to food and learning the major wine growing regions of the world. The class also includes wine tasting.
