OSU-Tulsa to host University of Illinois advanced materials workshop teleconference

OSU-Tulsa graduate students and Research Experience for Undergraduate fellows participate in last year's workshop teleconference at the OSU-Tulsa Helmerich Center.

The OSU-Tulsa Helmerich Research Center will host a live feed of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Advanced Materials Characterization Workshop on June 6-7 in HRC 157.

Scientists from UIUC’s Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory will provide a critical and comparative overview of materials characterization.

The workshop will cover basic and advanced topics geared toward both novice and experienced scientists and will include practical applications, problem-solving strategies and data collection and analysis.

Topics will include atomic force microscopy, focused ion beam sample preparation and nanofabrication, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and a special presentation on sample preparation and analysis of biological materials.

The cost is $75 for both days, which includes a tour of the Core Laboratory Facilities at the Helmerich Research Center at 4:15 p.m. on June 7.

For questions, contact Dr. Pankaj Sarin, assistant professor of materials science and engineering, at 918-594-8611. To learn more about the event schedule, visit the AMC 2017 website. To sign up to participate at OSU-Tulsa, visit the registration website.

The OSU-Tulsa Helmerich Research Center is a state-of-the-art research, development, testing and education center located near downtown Tulsa. It is home to the OSU School of Materials Science and Engineering.
