Associate professor to lead seminar Friday on Tulsa health disparities

Why research is important for implementing change

The Center for Family Resilience will host a seminar by Dr. Mike Stout, George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Family and Community Policy at OSU-Tulsa, about efforts to reduce Tulsa health disparities on Friday at 12:15 p.m. in Main Hall 2227.

He will highlight the link between social determinants of health and health disparities and how community-based participatory research can inform and facilitate large-scale community problem-solving initiatives.

Stout will also explain how interested scholars can engage in collaborative partnerships with organizations and volunteers to maximize the real-world impact of their research.

The presentation is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be provided.

The seminar is sponsored by the Human Development and Family Science program and the Center for Family Resilience at OSU-Tulsa. For more information, contact Dr. Amanda Harrist, OSU professor of human development and family science.
