Howard G. Barnett, Jr., president of OSU-Tulsa and OSU Center for Health Sciences, was elected chair of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Nonprofits, the nation’s largest network of nonprofit organizations.
“Howard’s election as board chair – the first from our at-large directors - is an important milestone for the National Council of Nonprofits,” said Patrick McWhortor, president and CEO of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and outgoing board chair of the National Council of Nonprofits. “It signals our transformation from trade association for state associations of nonprofits to a leadership organization for the nonprofit community. Howard’s proven leadership will help continue the momentum of the past few years as the Council of Nonprofits has stepped forward in advancing the nonprofit community.”
The National Council of Nonprofits works through member state associations to amplify the voices of America’s local community-based nonprofit organizations, help them engage in critical policy issues affecting the sector, manage and lead more effectively, collaborate and exchange solutions, and achieve greater impact in their communities.
