Approximately 90 fifth-graders from KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory will get a taste of university life when they attend their first day of the school year at OSU-Tulsa on Monday. It’s the sixth consecutive year OSU-Tulsa has hosted KIPP students.
KIPP Tulsa is part of a national network of schools in the “Knowledge is Power Program” and is operated through a partnership with Tulsa Public Schools. School administrators plan the first day of classes on a university campus to emphasize the idea that KIPP students are starting their education where they will finish – at college.
While visiting OSU-Tulsa, the students will meet with current students, faculty and staff, take a Spanish class, learn college survival techniques, learn about resources available through Career Services and take a tour of campus.
