One of the world’s leading analytical instrumentation companies has announced that Dr. Masoud Allahkarami with Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is the recipient of its award for excellence in X-ray diffraction.
The Bruker Corporation has recognized Allahkarami, a postdoctoral fellow in the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering, as the winner of its academic achievement award for his paper “X-Ray Diffraction Mapping on Complex Geometry Surfaces Using Genetic Algorithm Optimization.”
“Dr. Allahkarami’s award is an example of the cutting-edge research our students and faculty are conducting at the Helmerich Research Center,” said Howard Barnett, president of OSU-Tulsa and OSU Center for Health Sciences. “These researchers are making scientific advances that will be utilized by companies around the world and have a significant impact on our state’s economy.”
The award is presented annually for the most unique application report and includes a certificate and $4,000. The winning paper was part of Allahkarami’s work on his doctoral dissertation under Dr. Jay Hanan, an associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering based at OSU-Tulsa’s Helmerich Research Center. It was chosen for the annual award by a panel of recognized experts in academia and industry.
Allahkarami’s research focuses on developing a new method for characterizing curved surface properties using micro X-ray diffraction.
