The Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, in partnership with Tulsa Town Hall, will host international best-selling author Khaled Hosseini for a special event on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Greenwood Cultural Center.
“Up Close and Personal with Khaled Hosseini” will feature a question and answer session with some of Oklahoma’s best authors and journalists.
“Khaled Hosseini is a marvelous storyteller and we are delighted about his visit and interaction with our community,” said Teresa Miller, executive director of the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers. “This event provides the public a unique opportunity to explore the life and work of one of the world’s most acclaimed authors.”
Some of the authors who will be taking part in the event include Michael Wallis, Anna Myers, Karen Keith, Joy Harjo, Clifton Taulbert, Tim Tharp and Jim Stovall.
Hosseini is the No. 1 New York Times best-selling author of novels “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns.” His third novel “And the Mountains Echoed,” published in May, is also a New York Times bestseller.
Several community kite-building events have been scheduled in conjunction with Hosseini’s visit to Tulsa. For an updated schedule of events, visit http://poetsandwriters.okstate.edu/TulsaReads/calendar.html.
This event is part of Tulsa Reads, a citywide reading initiative sponsored by the Tulsa City-County Library System, Tulsa Town Hall, the Tulsa World and the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at OSU-Tulsa. Reading guides of Hosseini’s novels are available online at the center’s website.
