OSU’s Tulsa campuses to partner for 2010 United Way Campaign

Tulsa United Way LogoOSU-Tulsa and OSU’s Center for Health Sciences will partner for the first time this year to support the university’s annual fundraising campaign for the Tulsa Area United Way.

Campaign co-chairs Susan Tolbart and Sandy Cooper said OSU-Tulsa’s campaign officially begins Sept. 9 with a kick-off luncheon where the campus and overall combined goals will be announced. Students, faculty and staff from both campuses will work together on projects for the Day of Caring on Sept. 10. More details and additional events will be announced soon.

The Tulsa Area United Way provides services to more than 726,000 people each year through its 61 partner agencies in Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Rogers, Wagoner and Tulsa counties.

Spears School receives grant from leading simulation software company

Starting this fall, OSU students in the Spears School of Business will be provided with top-of-the-line simulation technology thanks to a grant from Simio LLC. 

Simio, a developer of 3D object-oriented simulation software, awarded a $79,200 grant to the Spears School in the form of 40 copies of Simio Academic Edition for installation on school computers.
Dursun Delen, associate professor of management science and information systems at OSU-Tulsa, will use the new software in his operations management course, allowing students to experience how the power of simulation analysis leads to better managerial decisions.

OSU Athletics offering discounted football tickets to students, faculty and staff

OSU AthleticsOSU students can get general admission tickets to all seven home games at Boone Pickens Stadium this season for $172. Student tickets will be available for purchase on Monday, Aug. 16. For more information, visit okstate.com.

OSU Athletics is also offering significant discounts to OSU faculty and staff members and their families and friends for a pair of home games this season. Discounted tickets are available for the home opener against Washington State on Saturday, Sept. 4 and the Big 12 opener against Texas A&M on Thursday, Sept. 30. Visit the Ticketmaster promo site to purchase tickets.
