OSU-Tulsa Begins Energy Upgrade Program

Energy-Saving PeteStudents, faculty and staff will notice some changes on campus over the next few weeks as OSU-Tulsa begins the next phase of its energy conservation efforts.

New low-flow toilets and urinals are part of the project, which focuses on upgrading equipment to require reduced consumption of water and electricity.

In addition, lighting fixtures across campus will be retrofitted to be more energy efficient, a new cooling tower will be installed in North Hall and two new, more energy efficient chillers and air handlers will be installed in Main Hall.

OSU-Tulsa has contracted with Johnson Controls of Tulsa to complete work on the energy efficiency project. Work began this week and is scheduled to be finished in April 2013.

Celebrate International Education Week at OSU-Tulsa

OSU-Tulsa is joining with universities across the globe to participate in International Education Week Nov. 12-16. The week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

The OSU-Tulsa International Student Organization (iSo-Tulsa) will have tables in both the North Hall Lobby and Main Hall Commons throughout the week to promote greater international awareness on campus. For more information about iSo-Tulsa and its programs, contact Thomas Wallis.

The OSU Study Abroad Office will have a representative in Tulsa on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 2-5 p.m.  Students can learn about study abroad opportunities by visiting with the representative in the North Hall Lobby or by attending an information session in North Hall 104 from 3-4 p.m. For more information about Study Abroad, contact Maggie Jackson

Free flu shots available at OSU in Tulsa Health Fair

Students, faculty and staff from OSU-Tulsa and OSU Center for Health Sciences will have the opportunity to get a free flu shot during the OSU in Tulsa Health Fair on Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. in the Main Hall Commons.

To receive a flu shot, be sure to bring a copy of your OSU ID or Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance card. Supplies are limited so you’re encouraged to come early.

While you’re getting a flu shot, you can also get a cholesterol screening, audiology screening, fitness assessment and information on health and fitness, OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center services and Counseling Center services. You can also pick up a healthy snack pack and a fruit smoothie.

Participants will be able to register for door prizes, including three Polar FT1 heart rate monitors, four $25 Visa gift cards, two pairs of OSU men’s basketball tickets and OSU gear.

OSU-Tulsa Health Clinic Extends Hours

The OSU-Tulsa Health Clinic, located in North Hall 265, has expanded its operating hours starting this week. The clinic is open 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The OSU-Health Clinic offers general health care, immunizations, well-women exams, lab testing and sports and health physicals to all OSU-Tulsa students, faculty and staff.
