First-generation college students invited to inaugural social event

Main HallAdvisement Services will host the First-Generation College Student Social on Tuesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in North Hall 140.

The event offers students the opportunity to meet and network with fellow classmates who are also experiencing the unique challenges associated with being the first in their family to attend college. During the social, students can learn about the resources OSU-Tulsa offers to help them have a successful college experience and also enjoy refreshments.

Advisement Services is available to assist students with choosing a program of study, developing an academic plan and locating resources to help with assignments and papers.To learn more about the social, contact Angel Ray at 918-594-8119.

Career Services offers free events, workshops for students and alumni

Career Services will host several free events and workshops from Sept. 10 through Oct. 10 to assist students and alumni in their employment search.

The fall career events calendar includes the OSU-Tulsa Career Fair on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 3-5 p.m. in the Main Hall Commons.

Workshops cover a variety of tops like job search strategies, career fair preparation and business etiquette. Career Services will host several résumé critique sessions and a mock interview day has been planned to help participants prepare for common employers questions.

National Day of Service and Remembrance Volunteer Fair returns to OSU-Tulsa

National Day of Service and Remembrance LogoIn honor of Patriot Day, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the National Day of Service and Remembrance Volunteer Fair on Sept. 10 from 3-6 p.m. in the North Hall Lobby. During the fair, members of the OSU-Tulsa campus can learn about local organizations and explore volunteer opportunities.

Organizations participating in the fair include the Tulsa City-County Library, Tulsa Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, Volunteer Tulsa, Inc., Oklahoma Aquarium, Animal Rescue Foundation, G.I. Wishes Foundation, Youth Services of Tulsa, The Little Light House, Hillcrest Medical Center, Cornerstone Hospice and Rivercross Hospice.

Going Green During the Labor Day holiday weekend, help OSU in Tulsa conserve energy. Remember to:

  • Turn off electronic equipment including computers, monitors, speakers and printers.
  • Unplug items like fans, chargers, radios and appliances such as coffeemakers.
  • Close blinds and tilt the slats upward.
  • Remember that temperatures may be warmer in some areas due to HVAC schedule reductions.
  • As always, turn off the lights as you leave.
