Career Services announces workshops, career fair for spring semester

Students who wish to prepare for their employment search are invited to a number of free workshops and events offered by OSU-Tulsa Career Services during the spring semester.

Spring workshops will kick off on Feb. 1 and run through March 3. A salary negotiation workshop, résumé critique sessions and a mock interview day will be offered to help participants prepare for common questions from employers.

The OSU-Tulsa Career Fair will be from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 in Main Hall Commons. Students and alumni are asked to bring a résumé and come professionally dressed to meet potential employers. Vendor Days promote local vendors, student discounts

OSU-Tulsa will host Vendor Days on Jan. 26-27 to provide students information about local organizations that offer OSU-Tulsa student discounts.

Vendor representatives will be available from 3:30-6 p.m. in the North Hall Lobby to detail discounts and hand out free samples.

Among the vendors scheduled for the event are Mansion House Apartments, Tulsa Teacher’s Credit Union, Access Medical and OrderOnMyWay, which produces a smartphone app for carryout ordering.

OSU in Tulsa Research Day poster deadline approaches

There is still time to submit posters and abstracts to participate in OSU in Tulsa Research Day on Feb. 18-19.

Posters must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 25. The maximum size for posters is 42 inches by 56 inches. Abstracts are due by Feb. 10. To submit an abstract, visit the OSU in Tulsa Research Day website.

OSU-Tulsa closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

No classes are scheduled and business offices will be closed on Monday in commemoration of the birth of the late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Main Hall Commons will be open for students who wish to study.

The 2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the intersection of John Hope Franklin Boulevard and Detroit Avenue. It will proceed east through campus to Greenwood Avenue. From there, the procession will travel south through the historic Greenwood District and will end at Archer Street and Elgin Avenue.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join the OSU group in the procession. This year’s parade theme is “One Race…The Human Race.” The event is organized by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society of Tulsa.
