Honor the memory of MLK Jr. with
|OSU-Tulsa students, faculty and staff participate in last year's MLK Jr. Day Parade.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to join Pistol Pete and walk in the 2017 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16 to honor the legacy of the late civil rights leader.
This year’s parade theme is “Love Conquers Hate.” The parade will begin at the intersection of John Hope Franklin Boulevard and Detroit Avenue and proceed east through campus to Greenwood Avenue. From there, the procession will travel south through the historic Greenwood District and will end at Archer Street and Elgin Avenue. The parade is organized by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society of Tulsa.
T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are optional and may be pre-ordered online at Dupree Sports Tulsa. The order deadline is Monday. Extended hours and walk-in advising to make enrollment convenient
If a busy schedule has kept you from enrolling for the spring semester, OSU-Tulsa is offering extended hours and walk-in advising for undergraduate students next week to help start the new year right.
The week kicks off with a special Saturday Enrollment Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday in North Hall 130. New student orientation sessions will also be available on Saturday. Offices will be open so you can buy books, complete admission, enroll in classes, meet with financial aid staff and pay your bursar bill on Saturday and during extended hours throughout the week.

Graduate student orientation will be at 10:30 a.m. in the B.S. Roberts Room on Saturday. Orientation for international students will be 2 p.m. in North Hall 140 on Jan. 17. Blum wins OSU Graduate Faculty Excellence Award
Denni Blum, OSU-Tulsa associate professor in social foundations, has been named the OSU College of Education Graduate Faculty Excellence Award winner for 2016. She was recognized for her excellence in teaching and service to OSU graduate students.
Blum joined OSU as faculty in 2008 after 13 years as a high school Spanish teacher and was promoted to associate professor in 2013.
As a member of the Tulsa Child Trafficking Task Force, she helped launch a new course at OSU-Tulsa in 2016 to fight back against child sex trafficking. The course is designed to provide educators the tools needed to identify and report suspected abuse and connect students to appropriate services.
