What drives you to do your best work? Interacting with our students is what makes me want to do my best. I enjoy helping solve student problems and to be a part of such an exciting process as finding a new career. Helping students realize just how many strengths and skills they have developed and how to market those in the best way possible brings a smile to my face. My goal is to have every student leave my office more excited about their career prospects.

What do you like to do in your leisure time? I love attending OSU football and basketball games with my family. We also try to go to all the football bowl games that OSU attends. As a family we love to support the rest of our family. What is one of your favorite quotes? Happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it.

What do you like to do in your leisure time? Most important to me is spending time with my family. I have 10 grandchildren, so I enjoy being involved in whatever they are doing at the time. Marcia Winder

The March 2015 Orange Pride award recipient is Marcia Winder, administrative assistant in Faculty Support Services.

What drives you to do your best work? It was the way my parents raised me. They expected all of us to do our best – not for a reward, but because it is the right thing to do. I grew up in a family of seven siblings and we didn’t have much of anything. But we had each other.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you? I own a Harley-Davidson Softtail Deluxe motorcycle and have ridden to the Sturgis motorcycle rally several times over the past 10 years. The first time was on my little Sportster. You haven’t lived until you are riding at a 45-degree angle due to 40 miles-per-hour winds. It was also 105 degrees out. There is nothing like the freedom that comes from riding on a motorcycle on twisting, winding roads through beautiful scenery.

What do you like to do in your leisure time? My husband and I love spending time with our four grandchildren. They keep us busy, but we hope they will also keep us young(ish).
