The Accounting Gateway Exam covers important topics from the first Principles of Accounting class (ACCT 2103) and will help determine whether you understand the accounting principles you need to succeed in upper-division accounting classes.
Everyone enrolling in ACCT 3013, 3103, 3203, and 3603 must pass the Gateway Exam no matter where or when they took Principles of Accounting.
You may take the Gateway Exam in the Testing Center in North Hall 103 at any time during regular operating hours but must call ahead for an appointment. To schedule an exam, contact the Testing Center at 918-594-8232 or email us at email@example.com. You will need to allow two hours to complete the exam.
The last day to take the exam to enroll in an upper division accounting class will be the Thursday before class begins. The exam is not available after this day through the first three weeks of class. There are no exceptions to this rule as the exam will be turned off and will not be operational.
Results will be posted on the Online Classroom Gateway Exam page under “grades” immediately after taking the exam. Grades will be posted to SIS by the Registrar’s office as soon as they are able to post them. This often takes 2-3 days after your grades are posted to D2L. Currently, a “passing grade” is 70%.
You may take the exam up to three times during each testing window as long as you do so by the exam deadline. Be sure to study the additional materials on Brightspace and take the practice exams to help you brush up on your skills. The testing windows are as follows:
Window I: Jan. 1 – June 30
Window II: July 1 – Dec. 31
First, self-register on Brightspace, the online classroom. You will then have access to PowerPoint slides under “content” and practice exams under “quizzes” which will be helpful in studying for the exam. You can also use your old textbook if you still have it or, download the free online text.
Please note that you must have an OKEY username and password to access these materials. Keep in mind, the exam will be administered from this site, so you will need to register prior to taking the exam, regardless of where you take the exam.
